The Ashgabat Panbarhat factory has introduced a special fabric called Atly panbarhat dedicated to this year’s motto, “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.” The fabric’s ornament features the symbol of the year — the Akhal-Teke horse, Turkmenistan’s official media reported Wednesday.
Ahead of International Women’s Day, Panbarhat store chains across Turkmenistan are offering customers handmade gift fabrics for women.
According to the report, women working in the stores know the history behind every pattern in the fabric. They explain the meanings of traditional ornaments — from the ancient Gadym goçak güli motif to the refined Pişme güli and Gaşly — and tell customers which designs are currently the most popular.
Store employees say that despite the wide color palette, deep red and rich burgundy remain the most popular colors in the country.
The Ashgabat fabric factory produces a wide range of textiles and finished items, including elegant capes, shawls and scarves. The entire production cycle — from processing delicate raw silk to the final embossing of the pile — takes place using advanced equipment.
Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Textile Industry is also developing online sales to make it easier for customers to choose fabrics and modernize the purchasing process.
