A representative from the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan took part in the 22nd meeting of the Working Group on Financial Cooperation of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held on September 16-17 in Ankara, Türkiye.

The purpose of the Turkmen representative’s participation was to exchange advanced experience in the field of digital transformation of payment systems in OIC member countries.

The meeting discussed the financial outlook of OIC member countries and presented a draft research report. Additionally, participants shared their experiences of working with the private sector, expanding the use of digital formats, and their future prospects.

Key challenges and achievements in the digital transformation of payment systems in OIC member countries were also reviewed, along with further steps to support COMCEC projects.

At the conclusion of the working group meeting and following a session of debates, recommendations were developed for the 40th Ministerial Session of COMCEC regarding the digital transformation of payment systems in OIC member countries.

The Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) serves as the main multilateral platform for economic and commercial cooperation in the Islamic world. COMCEC is the central forum for addressing common development challenges within the Islamic Ummah and finding solutions to them.

Currently, COMCEC consists of 57 member countries and 5 observer states spanning four continents. Turkmenistan has been a full member of this organization since 1992.
