The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Government of Turkmenistan have signed a significant agreement to fund the construction of three oncology hospitals with a total financing of $156.3 million.

According to official Turkmen media reports on Monday, the agreement was signed in Washington by Rahimberdi Jepbarov and IsDB President Muhammad Al Jasser.

The project’s total cost is estimated at $259 million, and the new medical facilities will be located in Balkanabat, Turkmenabat, and Mary Province. These centers are expected to provide quality care for over 11,750 patients.

The signing took place during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, where discussions focused on new cooperation opportunities within the "IsDB Member Countries Partnership Strategy" for 2024–2027. The IsDB continues to actively support Turkmenistan’s development in strategic sectors such as energy and healthcare.
