Specialists Work on Restoration of Tugai Forests
The concept of the project includes analyzing the dynamics of changes in the state of forest pastures over the past 40 years.

In the framework of a joint project of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), an introductory seminar on land use along the banks of the Amu Darya River was held in Ashgabat.

The participation of the Ambassador of Germany in Turkmenistan Ms. Margret Ubber and the regional coordinator of GIZ projects in Central Asia Torsten Brezina to the meeting highlights the productiveness of the 20-year old Turkmen-German partnership in environmental sphere.

The regional project, designed for the period from 2018 to 2020, is carried out in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan at the same time.

The concept of the project includes analyzing the dynamics of changes in the state of forest pastures over the past 40 years and carrying out land reclamation and reforestation measures along the coastal zone on an area of about 30-40 hectares. With its transboundary nature, the project is expected to become part of a new long-term strategy for the region.
