Five years have passed since the first voyage of the Berkarar ferry to the ports of Baku and Astrakhan.

According to the ABC.az news agency with reference to the Baku Commercial Sea Port, during this time, the Berkarar ferry vessel transported about 22 thousand units of transport vehicles and tens of thousands of passengers between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

At its first voyage, the ship transported 47 pieces of vehicles and 8 passengers. The ship significantly increased this figure during its last voyages.

The vessel made its first voyage to the port of Olya in the Astrakhan region of Russia. Back then, the ship transported building materials to the port in the 24-hour journey. Five years have passed since that first voyage.

RO-PAX type ferry boat Berkarar, built at Croatian shipyard Uljanik, arrived at the Turkmenbashi port in December 2014. The ferry is designed to carry on board 200 passengers, 2.4 thousand tons of cargo and 54 heavy vehicles.
