Turkmen Foreign Ministry Hosts Negotiations on Children’s Rights
The meeting participants discussed the activities of Turkmenistan in the field of ensuring and realizing the rights of the child in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Head of UNICEF Office in Turkmenistan Christine Weigand on Monday discussed the issues of further development of cooperation.

During the meeting at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the parties noted the successful long-term cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and emphasized the effectiveness of programs that are developed and implemented at the national level.

The sides underlined the importance of coordinated actions at the regional and global levels and discussed the activities of Turkmenistan in the field of ensuring and realizing the rights of the child in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The parties also exchanged views on further steps aimed at improving activities in the field of digitalization of education, healthcare, the social protection system and emergency preparedness.

Turkmenistan adopted the National Programme on Healthy Nutrition of the Population for 2020-2025, developed with technical support of UNICEF and World Health Organization (WHO), in March this year.
