Representatives of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation held online negotiations to further develop cooperation in the field of transport communications, Turkmenistan’s Golden Age news outlet reported on Thursday.
The negotiators discussed aspects of cooperation in the field of sea, rail and road transport, and issues of training relevant specialists.
The parties particularly exchanged views on establishing a regular ferry service between the Russian ports of Olya and Makhachkala and Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi International Seaport, and on the conditions for organizing transportation services.
The sides emphasized that the regular ferry service on Turkmenbashi - Makhachkala and Turkmenbashi - Olya routes at the current stage will provide transportation of food, construction materials, wood products, polymer products, diesel fuel and other oil products.
According to the report, in connection with the creation of ferry routes between the ports of Olya and Turkmenbashi, tariffs for ship calls will be leveled, and the possibility of their discounting will be reduced.
At the online negotiations, the Turkmen side included the heads and representatives of the Türkmendenizderýayollary (Turkmen Sea and River Lines), Türkmendemirýollary (Turkmen Railways), Türkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Motor Transport) agencies and the Russian side consisted of a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Yuri Tsvetkov.
