The Koneurgench district of Dashoguz province has been declared the winner of the country’s annual competition for best socio-economic development among the provinces and Ashgabat and awarded a $1 million cash prize.
The announcement was made Friday at an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan by Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, chairwoman of the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan.
The district demonstrated strong performance across social, economic, and cultural indicators, according to the state news program Watan habarlary.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed an order awarding Koneurgench district victory in the 2025 competition and allocating the corresponding prize to the district administration. He also announced that a similar competition will be held in 2026.
Last year’s winner was the Sakarchagе district of Mary province.
The Cabinet meeting summed up economic sector performance for 2025, heard reports from deputy prime ministers and ministry heads, and reviewed priority tasks for the country’s socio-economic development and personnel matters.
