Turkmen and German Medical experts conducted the first in Turkmenistan surgery to install a cochlear implant. The operation is a modern method of surgical treatment of patients with severe hearing loss and complete deafness.
The surgery at the International Centre for Treatment of Head and Neck Diseases was carried out with the assistance of German professors, Otorhinolaryngologist Johannes Zenk and anesthesiologist Klaus Tchaikovsky.
“Cochlear implant surgery is the most effective treatment for patients with severe hearing loss and complete deafness, which helps to restore hearing when hearing aids are unable to help,” said Professor Johannes Zenk.
According to Klaus Tchaikovsky, the surgical operation that was performed to install the cochlear implant is very difficult, but also very important for the future fate of the child.
“A necessary part of the treatment is postoperative rehabilitation, during which adaptation, auditory and speech training takes place,” said the German doctor Tchaikovsky.
A cochlear implant is a surgically implanted neuroprosthetic device to provide a person with moderate to profound sensorineural hearing loss a modified sense of sound.
