Mawy Kenar Cleans Oil Contaminated Soils on Caspian Coast
In February 2018, the Turkmennebit State Concern was authorized to conclude a contract with the Mawy Kenar for cleaning oil contaminated lands in the Balkan velayat.

Mawy Kenar Joint Venture Company offers cleaning services of oil contaminated soils.

The joint venture cleans oil contaminated soils using steam and diesel generators. According to the specialists of the Mawy Kenar, the flora and fauna will bloom again in oil contaminated soils of the Balkan velayat in near future.

In February 2018, the President of Turkmenistan signed a Decree on the implementation of the contract between the Turkmennebit State Concern and the Mawy Kenar Joint Venture Company for cleaning oil contaminated lands in the Balkan velayat.

The main objective of the 15 year contract is to clean the sands where oil had been discovered during historical drilling activities and independent geological surface seepage, and to recover the oil for commercial use.

Mawy Kenar began the cleaning work in the city of Khazar, where a high-tech production base with equipment specifically designed for the project was built. The company uses equipment of the German DBR Gazarmaturen GmbH, the Finnish Steamrator and the Russian NewGreen Technology. The company has completed the installation of equipment and started the cleaning of oil contaminated land.

The company was jointly established by Gazyk, the first privately owned oil and gas company licensed in Turkmenistan, Benel Technical Services from Canada and Hazar Balyk OJSC in 2018 and employs 34 people.
