A resident of Lebap velayat’s Dyanev etrap Chariguly Turkmenov produces in his yard a biohumus, a biologically active, environmentally friendly and natural organic fertilizer intended for agricultural use, using hybrid Californian composting worms.
According to Chariguly Turkmenov, the production of biohumus begins with the preparation of a substrate consisting of 80 percent of manure and 20 percent of decaying or rotted straw and leaves of trees. Hybrid composting worms are placed in the substrate, which in such an environment favorable for them, if the optimal parameters are met, multiply and begin to produce a dark, odorless, friable and slightly oily substance.
"During 4-6 weeks, hybrid worms will consume entirely about 40 percent of the substrate, and 60 percent will be allocated back in the form of a valuable biohumus, one ton of which replaces 20-25 tons of manure," Turkmenov said.
Turkmenov plans to build a worm farm for the production of biohumus and produce 300-400 tons of the organic fertilizer per year.
The introduction of advanced innovative technologies and methods for the development of agriculture is one the priorities of Turkmenistan. In this regard, the joint project of the Ministry of agriculture and environmental protection and the United Nations "Support for climate-sustainable economic life of agricultural communities in the arid regions of Turkmenistan" operates in the country.
