At the 11th meeting of the Russian-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation, its co-chairman, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov, announced plans to open a new transport route for cargo delivery to and from Russia via the Caspian Sea in the near future.
"We are working together on developing an international multimodal route for cargo delivery from Kyrgyzstan to Russia through Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, using sea ferry services across the Caspian Sea. I hope that we will launch this new route soon, which will boost trade turnover between our countries," Japarov said.
The new route is planned to pass through Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and the Caspian Sea, with cargo being delivered to the port of Astrakhan.
