Job Purpose

• To provide an emergency response to incidents within Dragon Oil facilities and support local communities when requested to do so.
• To provide inspection of relevant firefighting facilities and equipment and ensure timely reporting of any faults.
• To maintain records of testing and inspections.
• To maintain a record and carry out continuous professional development and upkeep of skills so that competencies are maintained in a professional standard to enable an appropriate response to any emergency.
• May be required to carry out other duties as required by line manager in line with HSE requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Responds to emergencies and fire alarms
• Preforms salvage operations to minimize damage and provide clean-up duties
• Provides assistance in all emergencies scenarios if requested
• Cleans and inspects all fire department equipment and reports any defects to line manager
• Makes minor repairs to equipment and apparatus, performs routine preventative maintenance tasks and keeps records of such actions.
• Carries out behavioral based safety audits, HSE event reporting and near miss reporting when necessary or required.
• Keeps fire station, offices, equipment and grounds clean and in orderly condition.
• Participates in training activities and instruction as required
• Acquires and retains a thorough knowledge of the city, including streets, buildings, water supply and hazards.
• Performs public information and safety information as required.
• Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe acts and conditions. Follow Dragon Oil HSE policy and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety, safe systems of work and accident prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the Dragon Oil SMS system.
• Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with Dragon Oil policies and procedures.

Education

Must Know:

• Certified firefighter. First aid.
• SCBA user and inspection of SCBA and refilling of SCBA cylinders using appropriate air compressors.
• Permit to Work. Confined space rescue. HSE awareness. Basic English conversation.
• Physically fit to carry out all duties as a firefighter. Local compliance legislation in regards to fire department responsibilities.
• Must be able to train, instruct and advise DOTL and local community.
• Basic inspection and testing of firefighting systems, fire department equipment and mobile firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers, hoses and nozzles.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must pass fire department physical and practical examination
• Make determinations as to the best course of action for fighting fires or responding to other related emergency situations.
• Work under extremely stressful situations, day and night, which result from a fire and other emergencies, including the responsibility for remaining calm and carrying out all duties with the recognition of the threat to life and property;
• Successfully meet the Dragon Oil Fire Department’s requirements and pass entry exams;
• Work within a command structure requiring strict adherence to the following of orders;
• Work in a team environment under extremely stressful situations;
• Quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology;
