Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Under the overall supervision of the of the Security Focal Point, the successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:
  • Acts as Security Guard at the Mission entry points by: screening all persons and vehicles, permitting access to the Mission premises to holders of valid IDs, commercial representatives, mission staff and visitors, as well as requesting identification and authorization for entry from unknown persons and, if necessary, preventing entry after referral to a higher-level authority;
  • Patrols and guards the buildings, entry and exit points and grounds in accordance with standing patterns, time limits and special instructions to detect and prevent unauthorized activities, safety hazards, and security breaches. Monitors and operates CCTV surveillance systems and electronic access control systems. Responds to suspicious behavior and incidents near the Mission premises and reports accordingly to a higher-level authority. Controls access to restricted areas, such as server and switchboard rooms or storage, in accordance with established procedures and authorized access lists; 
  • Acts as the first point of contact for emergency situations occurring on the Mission premises, including fire, medical emergencies, technical faults, and security incidents. Receives and records key information and reports it to a higher-level authority;
  • Replaces switchboard operator during after working hours. Operates diesel generator in case of power cuts during after working hours. Keeps reserve keys of all premises and vehicles, keeps a log book of keys issued;
  • Provides physical security at the Security Front Desk during assigned shift. Supports the Security Focal Point in conducting fact-finding related to physical security and safety incidents and contributes to maintaining a safe and secure working environment at the Mission premises.

Necessary Qualifications:

Education:

  • Completed secondary education;
  • Police or military background will be an asset.
  • Sports qualifications, particularly in martial arts, would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of security rules and regulations and the ability to use emergency equipment.
  • A minimum of 2 years of working experience in security, law enforcement or military; a university degree in a relevant field may be considered as a substitute for up to two years of working experience only to determine eligibility;
  • Knowledge of physical security procedures, emergency response, and surveillance systems;
  • Knowledge of fire safety and first aid procedures;
  • Ability to interact professionally with a wide range of individuals;
  • Physical fitness and readiness to perform security tasks (standing, walking, shift work);
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Ability and willingness to work as a member of team, with people of different cultural, and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Computer literacy with practical experience in Microsoft applications;
  • Languages: Good command of local languages (Turkmen and Russian), preferably mother tongue.
  • Working knowledge of the English language is desirable.
