SLB Invites Applications for PreVue Engineer Contractor Role in Balkanabat

Vacancy: PreVue Engineer (Contractor)

Location: Turkmenistan, Balkanabat

Employment Type: Contractor

Rotation: 28 days on / 28 days off, 12-hour rig-site coverage

The PreVue Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the evaluation is continuously updated during drilling and regularly communicated to the Customer in accordance with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Real-Time Pore Pressure and Fracture Gradient Evaluation
  • Monitor, estimate, interpret, and continuously update Pore Pressure and Fracture Gradient using available LWD/MWD data, Surface Logging (Mudlogging) data, drilling parameters, drilling fluids data, and other relevant information. PP evaluation shall apply appropriate methodologies based on available data and formation conditions, including resistivity, acoustic, density, and drilling exponent methods, as applicable.
  • Operational Advice, Hazard Identification and Early Warning
  • Identify and assess actual or potential PP/FG-related hazards and uncertainties and provide timely advice and early warning to relevant rig-site and town-based personnel. This shall include significant changes in PP/FG trends and risks associated with kicks/influxes, lost circulation, and other geopressure-related drilling hazards.
  • Forward Pore Pressure and Fracture Gradient Prediction
  • Provide and regularly update PP and FG predictions for intervals or sections yet to be drilled, based on the latest available data, observed drilling response, and current interpretation of the well.
  • Pre-Job Data Preparation, Model Calibration and Updating
  • Review, prepare, process, and analyze relevant data provided by the Customer for pre-job evaluation, model preparation, and calibration. The prediction model shall be updated and recalibrated during drilling as relevant new data becomes available.
  • ECD and Drilling Window Evaluation
  • Monitor and evaluate ECD in relation to the interpreted Pore Pressure and Fracture Gradient and identify conditions where operational parameters approach or exceed the interpreted safe drilling window.
  • Drilling Fluids and Casing Information
  • Monitor and incorporate relevant drilling fluids and casing information into the RTPP interpretation, including Mud Weight In/Out, ESD, ECD, casing/liner information, and significant operational changes affecting PP/FG evaluation.
  • Cuttings and Cavings Evaluation
  • Monitor, document, and interpret cuttings and cavings relevant to Pore Pressure and wellbore stability evaluation. Where available, representative photographs shall include an appropriate scale. The description and interpretation shall consider the drill-bit type in use.
  • Gas Shows and Drilling-Related Gas Events
  • Monitor, document, and assess gas shows and relevant gas events for their significance to PP interpretation, including, where applicable, formation gas peaks, connection gas, pumps-off gas, swab gas, trip gas, and other drilling-related gas events.
  • RTPP Reporting and Communication
  • Maintain and communicate the latest PP/FG interpretation, forward prediction, identified hazards and uncertainties, relevant drilling observations, and significant deviations from the pre-drill model. The RTPP Engineer shall maintain a concise daily operations summary and promptly communicate material changes to the Customer's designated representatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering, Drilling Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant hands-on experience in real-time Pore Pressure and Fracture Gradient evaluation.
  • Previous rig-site / wellsite drilling operations experience.
  • Strong knowledge of PP/FG prediction and evaluation methodologies.
  • Experience interpreting LWD/MWD and mudlogging data.
  • Good understanding of drilling operations, ECD, drilling fluids, well-control indicators, and drilling windows.
  • Experience with pre-drill PP/FG models, model calibration, forward prediction, and real-time model updating.
  • Ability to recognize geopressure-related drilling hazards and provide timely operational recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and technical reporting skills.
  • Good command of English.
